What Our Logo Represents: A Message from Johnny G
[ezcol_1half]
From a young age, both philosophy and health consciousness have played an enormous role in my life. My father was a pharmacist and an accomplished athlete. My mom was dedicated to her yoga practice and was extremely metaphysical. It was only natural that I would begin to explore a deeper spiritual path following my enrollment in a martial arts school at age six.
As a result of these influences, regardless of my physical accomplishments on the bike, everything I did always had that philosophical attachment.
During my competitive years as a martial artist, and during bike events lasting 24 hours or longer, I discovered the concept of "unified energy."
Taoists often value the number three, because the principle of immortality is derived from the "Three Treasures of the Universe."
The three treasures of the universe are heaven, earth and mankind. Each "treasure" contains its own three treasures, as well:
- The three treasures of heaven: the sun, the moon, and the stars.
- The three treasures of earth: fire, water, and air.
- The three treasures of mankind: Chi, Jing and Shen.

Chinese internal medicine defines these treasures of mankind as follows:
Chi is described as the life force energy. Our physical energy, Jing, can be translated as “essence,” or the energy we are born with. Shen is the name for our spiritual self.
In Japan, it’s believed that the famous “tomoe” emblem is associated with the Shinto war deity, Hachiman, who was worshipped by both peasants and samurai alike.
In the year 2000, the Year of the Dragon, I commissioned an artist to design a logo for me. This logo has been with me ever since.
When you study our logo you will see negative and positive space. Look at it carefully.
It is tattooed on my arm and in my heart with the essence of my family.
I hope you find my words inspiring, and I hope you have a better reference point for what we are proudly showing on our banners as we go into battle together in the pursuit of happiness and physical well being.
